This module is a enduring recorded course on Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health Disorders. This module is designed to inform New Jersey health care professionals about the demographics of those affected by SUD while also having a mental health disorder, the risks associated with SUD and Mental Health Disorders, the impacts on society, the occurrence of comorbidity and its effects, the best practice interventions for treatment, the barriers to treatment for those affected by SUD and Mental Health Disorders, and the methods to increase access to treatments and what the benefits would be.
Target Audience: New Jersey Physicians; Podiatrists; Physician Assistants; Certified Nurse Midwives; Dentists; Advanced Practice Nurses; Social Workers; Psychologists; Marriage & Family Therapists; and Professional Counselors.
Objectives: At the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Evaluate the statistics and demographics surrounding SUD and mental health disorders
- Identify the risks associated with SUD and mental health disorders
- Demonstrate understanding of the impacts on society
- Evaluate the occurrence of comorbidity and its effects
- Convey the best practice interventions for treatment
- Assess the barriers to treatment for those affected by SUD and mental health disorders
- Identify the methods of increasing access to treatment and its benefits
