Case 1: Cervical Myelopathy

RECORDED OPIOID SAFETY GRAND ROUND: Registration opens and course begins June 9th, 2023
Cervical Myelopathy is a recorded opioid safety grand round that will discuss a case involving a patient with chronic pain of an untreated etiology. Multiple factors arise creating a more complex medical situation as well as appropriate management of the patient’s chronic pain and psychosocial needs.
TARGET AUDIENCE: New Jersey Physicians; Podiatrists; Physician Assistants; Certified Nurse Midwives; Dentists; Advanced Practice Nurses; Social Workers; Psychologists; Marriage & Family Therapists; Professional Counselors; Athletic Trainers; Dentists; and Pharmacists.
OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Attend to subjective pain complaints in the patient with opioid use disorder
- Recognize signs and symptoms consistent with cervical myelopathy
- Assess the effect of chronic opioid management on diagnostic complexity
- Manage the transitioning from chronic pain to substance use disorder
