RECORDED OPIOID SAFETY GRAND ROUND: Registration opens and course begins January 19th, 2024

When To Say No To Increasing Opioid Analgesics is a RECORDED opioid safety grand round that will provide standardized, comprehensive, easily accessible, evidence-based education on best practices and current laws regarding opioids for professionals throughout the State. This presentation will include case studies that focus on the patient’s request/need for more opioid medication, patient’s theory of their pain, making adjustments to the plan of care, and explaining the decision-making process to the patient. 

TARGET AUDIENCE: Healthcare Professionals with Prescribing Authority (i.e. Physicians, dentists, optometrists, podiatrists, physician assistants, certified nurse midwives, advanced practice nurses, pharmacists)

OBJECTIVES:  At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Assess the patient’s request/need for more opioid medication
  2. Integrate the patient’s theory of their pain in the decision-making
  3. Prepare to make adjustments to the plan of care
  4. Explain/restate the decision-making process to the patient
